At the beginning of the new millennium the completion of affordable robots also suitable for everyday use in order to attain - to a certain extent - general aims has become imminent. Robot Control Software Ltd. was established in 1995 in order to participate in the development of these robots as a software and system integrator company.
To be able to produce really useable robots the following fundamental problems should be solved:
Our main profile is the development of software for robots as well as the design of necessary tools for software development. Based on several ideas we are developing programs on four lines which, built upon each other, make a homogeneous system: rMPL, Property Library, Project Manager, Program Editor. These tools are integrated into a homogeneous program development environment under the brand name rIDE.
We also have conceptions for the development of the hardware of an electronic system designed for the definite purpose of robot control. The most important aspect here is that individual hardware components should be developed as part of a consistent system plan including the software as well. This is the requirement that are the least met by currently available systems. Furthermore, the development of the system is carried out mainly in accordance with the requirements of mobile robots.
Robots are needed for the programming of robots, so we need mechanics suitable for our purposes. Industrial robots available in the market, besides being too expensive, are not suitable for our needs, therefore we are planning to build some simple robot arms and mobile robots or robot models.
In order to realise our long-term goals we would like to utilise the experience having accumulated during development as well as the completed units as independent products. In the following we briefly describe the projects whose introduction to the market has now become imminent.
Unfortunately, for the time being, the lack of the necessary financial funds is slowing development. Therefore, we are interested in any possibility enabling the speed-up of our work. We have in mind external financial resources (grants, credits, venture capital investment), cooperation with other teams of researchers, diploma or thesis topic as well as job opportunities for talented engineers, programmers.
The C++ language is the most efficient and flexible at the same time standard programming language. For this reason we have decided to use this. Each product of RCS Ltd. is written in C++ and all development tools are designed for this language.
